Critical Incident

On Thursday, May 2nd, Placer County Deputy Sheriff Richard Porter was shot in the line of duty while inspecting a van that was connected to a recent burglary. Upon approaching the van, deputies found a man inside who opened fire, striking and seriously injuring Deputy Porter.  

Deputy Porter is a newer deputy in training and is now hospitalized and was in critical condition. He is married and is expecting their first child in just a few weeks.
