In August of 2023 Corporal Vanessa Lugo of the Texas Department of Public Safety, suffered her first syncope episode. After her hospitalization, she was sent on a spiral of questions to find a diagnosis for and cause for the syncope episodes. Vanessa was sent home to follow up with a number of specialists to rule out a number of diagnoses; their number one probability being a neurological issue. After months of follow-ups with multiple specialists, neurologists and misdiagnosis, it was found that Vanessa's syncope episodes were not caused by seizures rather a cardiac issue in her heart. Vanessa was found to have ventricular tachycardia which is an arrhythmia that puts her at risk of a fatal cardiac arrest. She now faces a long road ahead of her as she needs to undergo more cardiac scans and studies to determine what the issue is with her heart and what steps will need to be taken to repair the issue.

The DPS Troopers Foundation is raising money to assist Corporal Lugo financially until she can return to work. Help a hero charges a fee up front. 100% of funds raised will go to Corporal Lugo. If you are able, please donate.
